Vacation Bible School
Each summer we hold a Vacation Bible School for children, youth and adults, that is open to the community. We always have a great turnout for singing, crafts and bible study. This is one the largest outreach projects of the church and involves the entire congregation. The theme for 2007 is Avalanche Ranch and it will be held the week of 29 July – 3 August. Mark your calendar with the dates and make plans to join us.
Pumpkin Patch
This is an outreach to the entire Sumter area and held each October to raise funds for the church’s missions such as Sumter Area Missions and Salkehatchie. The pumpkins are purchased from a Navajo Indian Reservation in New Mexico, which is a Native American Ministry Outreach. Each day a story time is offered to area school children, this past year over 1000 children attended.
United Methodist Women's BBQ
Each November the United Methodist Women host a BBQ Lunch for the church and community. An average of 400-500 tickets are sold with all proceeds going to local missions and to support the youth of our church missions as well. Trust us…this is a dinner you don not want to miss!
Journey to the Cross
Aldersgate offers each year an interactive, self-paced worship experience on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday between 6:00 and 8:00pm. It is designed to give each person an opportunity during Holy Week to reflect on the life of Christ and the incredible gift of salvation that He offers each of us.
Youth Week
A week -long celebration held each August before returning to school. The week is filled with Bible studies, games and water fun! This is for rising 6th-12th graders. This is a highly anticipated event for all of our youth and sets the pace for an exciting year.
