Aldersgate is a United Methodist Church filled with people from Sumter and the surrounding areas. We are truly representative of the many walks of life, whether we be military or civilian, that have led people to this area of South Carolina. Whether one grew up a native of Sumter or as one who has come to us from areas far-removed, the people Aldersgate have found a common ground in Jesus Christ.

Our congregation is indeed a place for growing Christians in a family atmosphere of warmth and caring. At every level, whether in the baby nursery or in the traditional worship service, there is a sense of acceptance and love, which reflects the unconditional love God offers each of us. The family atmosphere of Aldersgate United Methodist Church abounds in our life together, as a part of the family of God, seeking to offer ourselves in ministry in the community, as well as around the world.

We would like the opportunity to include you among the family of Aldersgate who exercise their faith through worship, study, and mission. We inite you to come and grow with us in the mission of "introducing people to Christ", as the founder of Methodism, John Wesley, encouraged his itinerant ministers to simply "offer then Christ".
